shapefiles

we need a shapefile + tables export capability, parallel to our kml and georss capabilities

  • snapshots, rather than live: coordinated releases

archive format

we need an archive format

  • GML, KML, shape: none fit our model
  • we'd rather not have to maintain the frankenformat
  • maybe the TEI will work: Tom to hack up some examples

KML

Add:

Nominal error circle, with initially 0 visibility. Unobtrusive, dashed line or such. 10% fill?

Notes on accuracy in placemark description. Just a short paragraph, with link to details.

Use a single icon unique to Pleiades.

locations

  • Add an "accuracy radius" attribute; this will be used for various purposes like adding accuracy "circles" in KML or conditioning proximity searches
  • Add a url attribute by which we can point at metadata for that location

We need an real search web service using OpenSearch? with Atom feed results. One use case is the ability to search by full or partial batlas citations
